
植樹(shù)節(jié)是按照法律規(guī)定宣傳保護(hù)樹(shù)木,并組織動(dòng)員群眾積極參加以植樹(shù)造林為活動(dòng)內(nèi)容的節(jié)日。按時(shí)間長(zhǎng)短可分為植樹(shù)日、植樹(shù)周和植樹(shù)月,共稱(chēng)為國(guó)際植樹(shù)節(jié)。提倡通過(guò)這種活動(dòng),激發(fā)人們愛(ài)林造林的熱情、意識(shí)到環(huán)保的重要性。
中國(guó)的植樹(shù)節(jié)由凌道揚(yáng)和韓安、裴義理等林學(xué)家于1915年倡議設(shè)立,最初將時(shí)間確定在每年清明節(jié)。1928年,國(guó)民政府為紀(jì)念孫中山逝世三周年,將植樹(shù)節(jié)改為3月12日。新中國(guó)成立后的1979年,在鄧小平提議下,第五屆全國(guó)人大常委會(huì)第六次會(huì)議決定將每年的3月12日定為植樹(shù)節(jié)。

China's Tree Planting Day was proposed by Ling Daoyang, Han An, Pei Yili and other foresters in 1915, and was initially set at the annual Qingming Festival. In 1928, the National Government changed the Arbor Day to March 12 to commemorate the third
anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's death. In 1979 after the founding of the People's Republic of China, at the proposal of Deng Xiaoping, the sixth session of the Standing Committee of the Fifth National People's Congress decided to designate March 12 as the
